Equity Office, the largest owner and manager of office space in the Silicon Valley, held a holiday toy drive that ran from November 19th to December 23rd that benefited the children in InnVision emergency shelters and transitional housing. The drive, which was held at the Metro Plaza office complex, aimed to fill up "Santa's Cupboard" with toys for children, according to Equity Office's John Petersen, senior vice president of the San Jose Region. The toy drive for Santa's Cupboard placed collection bins at nearly 130 buildings owned and managed by Equity Office in the Silicon Valley following the Thanksgiving Holiday. "Santa's Cupboard is a wonderful gift we can give to families who are homeless and less fortunate," said Petersen. "Although this is the first holiday season that Equity Office's San Jose Region is working with InnVision, we're happy to use our nearly 130 buildings in the area as collection points toward the goal of making it a successful toy drive for Santa's Cupboard." "InnVision is very grateful to Equity Office for their year-long commitment to meeting homeless needs in this community," said Christine Burroughs, executive director of InnVision. "These monthly drives provide an opportunity for employees to make a contribution - each in their own way. It also helps in building a wonderful team spirit within the company." "InnVision is constantly in need of donations throughout the year and Equity Office's San Jose Region is collecting items that are in high demand each month of the year," said Petersen, who notes that InnVision was selected as Equity Office's philanthropic partner earlier this year. "Each property throughout our San Jose Region collects such basic necessities as towels, linens, school supplies, blankets, toiletries and diapers. We've also contributed $4,500 worth of computer equipment and $1,500 worth of clothes so far." In December's drive, there was great competition between the properties. Over 700 toys were collected this year led by The Gateway property with the Pruneyard Towers coming in second. Equity Office has adopted InnVision as one of their community partners and has had a drive each month benefiting several InnVision programs and services. |
