Santa's Cupboard is Running Out of ToysNeedy will be turned away if more donations do not arrive. WHO: Over 200 needy and homeless families WHAT: Will be turned away empty-handed if agency runs out of toys. WHERE: InnVisions Georgia Travis
Center, WHEN: Tuesday morning, December 21, 1998 WHY: The average age of a homeless person in America is nine years old. Locally, the high cost of housing has left more families homeless than ever before, and left many more at-risk of homelessness, paying so high a proportion of their income for rent that little is left over for necessities, and certainly none for Christmas presents. This year, InnVisions Santas Cupboard program is not only providing toys for those families staying in shelters, but is being accessed by many more who have left the shelter and still need help for Christmas. Unfortunately, just as demand has risen, toy donations have fallen off drastically from this time last year. As of 2pm on Sunday the 21st, the first day of the program, supplies are running out. Many more toys are needed throughout this week. HOW TO HELP: Donations of new and unwrapped toys may be dropped off at 66 East Rosemary Street in San Jose, 8:30 am 4:30 pm, or at The InnVision Main Office at 974 Willow Street in San Jose, 9am 5pm, or at the Gift Wrap booth at the Great Mall of the Bay Area in Milpitas, 11am 8pm. # # #
